RISNET Production Management

The Production Management Solution is built upon a single unified model of the plant and its material flows. It provides a consistent basis for Plant Yield Accounting, Unit Mass Balancing, Data Reconciliation, Production Planning, Production Monitoring and Plant Performance Reporting.

It is completely integrated with Resolution's Movement Management, and Inventory Management modules to provide a comprehensive materials tracking capability able to handle the needs of production units, tank farms and offsites.

The Production Management solution can handle batch and continuous operations. A complete batch tracking and lot genealogy capability is available.

Production Management

Features

  • Manages topology of the plant.   Reports and calculations adapt as the topology of the plant changes. For example, the addition of a new stream does not require reports to be rewritten or calculations to be changed. The same reports and calculations can be used for all units: the specific topology is deduced from the database 'model'.

  • Describes quantities and qualities of streams in and out of units.   Organizes the real-time tags, calculations, and laboratory analyses, defining what measurements they provide.

  • Manages material commodities and commodity groups.   Provides a hierarchical organization of all plant commodities. Allows quantities and qualities of inventories, movements, feeds, and products to be accumulated by commodity and commodity group.

  • Manages commodity dispositions over time.   Tracks planned, actual and forecast material dispositions of any plant item or location over time. e.g. tanks, streams, battery limits, sample points.

  • Movement, tank and stream quantities and qualities can be fixed values, time varying values or calculations.   Temperature, gravity, and pressure correction of tank quantities can be done according to API or any other standard. Full tank contents correction can use 'static' properties of the tank such as roof weight. Tank-strapping tables can be included within tank equations. Movement quantities such as mass can be automatically calculated from the meter ticket information. Changes to entered data are automatically reflected in changes to dependent calculated values. Overall yield indices can be automatically calculated for the unit.

  • Multiple data capture methods available:   Data that are already in a real-time database can be left there yet still used as if it were in the Repository database. Interactive forms allow manual data entry. These forms can be configured to match precise data entry requirements. Bulk loading of data via Reloader, the Resolution Excel add-in.

  • Full batch and lot tracking.    Allows tracking of batches and lots. The same lot is allowed to reside in multiple locations and multiple lots can reside in the same location. See Batch Tracking.

  • Automatically rolls up production information by area, unit, time period, commodity or any other 'dimension'.    All production information is calculated dynamically, reflecting the latest information.

  • See the paper: "Closing the Loop between the ERP and DCS".

  • Integrated Reconciliation Engine.    Resolution's Reconciler data reconciliation engine can read the database to configure its' model and collect measurement, movement and laboratory information. Resolution can also provide data seamlessly to third party reconciliation products. See interfaces.

  • Automatically takes care of the units-of-measure conversion between different measurements.    Eliminates hard-to-find problems due to incorrectly reported or inconsistent units-of-measure.

  • Provide one-stop access for all information about a stream.    Resolution resolves where the information about any stream is stored: in Repository; a calculation; in an external real-time database; or in a laboratory system. It also maintains multiple versions of information; e.g. planned, actual operating, reconciled, yield accounted etc.

  • Allows complex calculations about streams, units, battery limits etc.    A full function calculation engine, Reevaluator, enables complex calculations to be done to support production reporting and performance indicators. e.g. Temperature, gravity, and pressure correction of stream flows , Unit yield calculations, Plant performance indices.

Custom Forms

With RISnet, a multitude of specific web forms are available to manage different aspects of plant topology. These forms are customized for site business rules to ensure consistency of data configuration and to require the minimum input information to get the job done. A management menu is provided for access to the configuration forms.

Production Management Forms Viewing of Data

RISnet provides several browsers which can be used to explore the plant topology and relationships. Once an item of interest has been located Resolver navigation can be used to activate additional applications or scripts to find more information.

Browsers for Plant Information

Complete flow, volume and mass information can be accessed on any plant or unit battery limit. Raw values may be coming from real-time data systems, analyses from the lab system and the corrected volumes and mass from on-demand calculations.

The Resource Criteria Trender page allows the user to immediately trend any criteria data. This may be schedule data, real-time data, calculated data, etc. Any value may be trended over time.

Trend Any Production Data

Resolution's Reloader spreadsheet add-in can be used to extract production information from the database into Microsoft Excel.

Effective production management requires detailed and accurate knowledge of all material movements in and out of the plant, in and out of storage and in and out of operating units. See Movement Management. The solution provides for either manual data collection of movement information, or for automated movement detection. These movements can then be viewed via applications such as the Transfers Gantt.

Production Reporting

RESOLUTION provides extensive reporting capabilities allowing virtually any report to be created from the database views. These views resemble data warehouse 'fact' tables. Because Resolution uses a pure SQL database, any SQL compliant reporting tool can be used. Reports shown below are examples generated directly from the database using XML and XSLT. Resolution also supplies BusinessObject Universes.

The Plant Volume Summary report takes into account all receipts and shipments to any tank within an area, as well as the opening and closing inventory of each tank. The report can be over any period.

The Plant Volume Balance report is based on the Plant Volume Summary report. However, it totalizes all receipt and shipment movements over the report period.

The Plant Commodity Volume Balance report extends the Plant Volume Balance report by reporting the balance for each commodity found within the plant or area.

The Production Summary report shows the accumulated flow in and out of the chosen unit. One or more properties can be chosen to report. Resolution will take care of the units-of-measure conversion and the accumulation of the flows over the arbitrary period. Resolution also deduces what streams to take into account, based upon the plant model contained in the database. Thus, the addition of a stream, or addition of properties associated with a stream will be taken care of automatically. Because of this 'data driven reporting' approach, the same report is applicable to all units within the plant. It is just the matter of selecting a different unit against which to run the report.

The Production Balance report builds upon the Production Summary report. However, instead of reporting each stream the Production Balance report totalizes providing a preliminary material balance for the unit. Since any stream quality or version can be reported, this forms an ideal step on the route to full data reconciliation.
