Resolver Window Based AppletsA suite of configurable applications and applets are provided with Resolution. These applications and applets are designed to perform specific focused tasks. Navigation between them is accomplished using OLE linking. This architecture enables custom work flows to be easily accommodated by data configuration alone.
Navigation from the applet to perform other tasks is performed via RESOLVING the resource rather than adding the additional code in the applet itself. RESOLVING allows a context sensitive menu to appear wherever there is a resource within an applet. The menu is brought up by 'right-clicking' the resource. This configurable context sensitive menu will show all of the tasks that may be performed on that resource. This menu can include either other applets or third party applications. Common user interface requirements are implemented as OLE controls. This maximizes the amount of code sharing between individual applets. It also greatly reduces each applet's code size. With this approach, users get a consistent access method to a variety of tools. Users do not need to know where applications are, or even what application is required to display certain information. They just select e.g. a tank and pick "View Attributes". The database handles triggering of the appropriate application and retrieving the data. |

RESOLVER 'packages' plant resources as OLE objects so that they can be linked or embedded in any OLE compliant application such as Microsoft Word or Excel, OSI ProcessBook, where they appear as icons. These RESOLVER icons can be activated in-situ to show the list of associated applications.
A general access method to information is through a Resolution Browser.
The Browser displays a hierarchy of resource types with associated resources. After selecting an object, or resource, the list of available applications associated with that object will be presented. |
